Stephen Alway is a contemporary abstract artist exploring colour, texture and mark-making to create expressive works on canvas.

The work is intuitive, often with a small focussed palette, using a variety of mixed media. This includes acrylics, oil pastels, inks, pencils, charcoal and collage. Canvases are often textured with sand, cement or other mixtures.

It is important that each work has an idea behind it. Titles and write-ups will often explain these. Our job is to  capture the experience and feelings those ideas encompass. All works for sale are fully resolved (as my old tutor used to say), signed, framed and ready to hang. Our greatest hope is that these works will make a beautiful contribution to your home.

All works are from the Datchet studio which is open to visitors by appointment. It is situated in the village of Datchet, twenty miles west of London, where the family have lived for nearly fifty years.
